| “This is the most effective workshop we’ve had since I’ve been at Kendal! The communication skills taught in this workshop will shrink problem-solving time, improve trust, and enrich our culture with greater care and respect.” –Laura Peters, Human Resources Development Manager, Kendal at Ithaca |
Vital components of caring and consciousness are practiced and realized in this communication workshop.
Participants develop a capacity and willingness to understand the world of a speaker, and consciously eliminate judgment, opinion and advice. The outcome is a trust and respect based connection between the speaker and the listener. Trust and respect are the cornerstones of effectiveness. This subtle yet profound shift in communication in which a listener listens for, and reflects on the intention and/or context of a speaker’s message before personally addressing the communication may seem simple; in practice however, it is transformative and highly effective at producing unpredictable positive results, as well as cultivating the bonds of trust and respect crucial to resilient communities.
In this highly experiential workshop you will learn how to:
- Identify the commitment, concern or passion behind a speaker’s words
- Recognize and censor automatic, habitual non-listening responses
- Insure speakers feel understood, no matter what your opinion of their content
- See effective “listening” as a time management tool for achieving faster results
- Know when a speaker is ready for your input and when you are done listening
